Another question we are asked about tours to Scotland is:

Am I better to buy a tour including transport from London or make my own travel arrangements and join a tour there?

Our advice:

Make your own travel arrangements

Tour packages include train from London to Edinburgh are generally poor value and inflexible. The journey from London is not escorted on those tours, all you are provided with is a ticket to travel that the tour company has made a healthy profit on and you actually meet the tour in Edinburgh as we offer here

By making your own arrangements to catch the train, you can be flexible on the time you travel and take advantages of offers and discounts to make far better value for you

Or you may choose to save 4/5 hours each way and fly up which takes less than an hour and is usually cheaper than the train
